About Us

The Forum for Anti-Colonial Inquiry in the Humanities and Social Sciences (FAIHS) is an open forum for students and researchers to engage with anti-colonial perspectives in research and teaching.

Our participants include students, pre-docs, post-docs, and professors primarily from the University of Vienna, as well as colleagues from other universities in Austria, including the Central European University and the Technical University in Vienna, as well as the University of Innsbruck. Through our activities, we are also developing international networks with colleagues and academic institutions abroad.

FAIHS currently works through two main formats:

  • an online lecture series, which connects us with researchers worldwide, and

  • the FAIHS Jour Fixe, a monthly meeting in Vienna (with hybrid option), where thematic inputs are discussed and organisational matters are coordinated.

As a forum, FAIHS has no fixed membership: anyone interested is welcome to join our meetings and events at any time. Announcements are made via our social media channels and mailing lists. We warmly invite students, academics, and members of the public to attend our meetings and events, and to get in touch with us by email if they wish to suggest an activity.

The organisational work of the forum is coordinated by a rotating steering committee, which manages communications, events, and external relations. The current committee includes: Alessandra Guido, Hassan Noah, Cosimo Paravano, and Maya Rinderer.
